All tv in the market today will accept any signal you feed it, they don't require HD source to operate. The top 2 manufacture in tvs are Panasonic and Samsung, they have the less problem and have better customer relation service support center. Also view the tv from an angle and see if you loose any picture quality, Panasonic and Samsung does not and Plasma has the best viewing angle of all tvs beside having the best picture quality of all tvs in the market today. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD/LED tvs. If you read yahoo questions 95% of tv problems comes from LCD/LED and 95% of those are off brands. You get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

You probably have renters or homeowners insurance, make a claim to them for the TV and let them fight with the construction company.

Since you have cable internet, you need a devise which can connect to the internet and the TV.
Things like the PS3, dvd / blueray player, a Wii.... with wireless or hard wire internet access. You most likely need to expand your in house network.
Most people have a wireless router in their homes.
Most people subscribe to at least basic TV services.
Most people have either TV's that connect to the internet to access Netflix directly or have players, Wiis, PS3s or other devices which can connect to Netflix.
Why don't you connect your computer to your TV and just play netflix instant movies that way? No added cost or changes required and you can use Netflix free trial.

Do you have some type of proof that they damaged it? If so, let them finish the work then take them to small claims court on the TV... but the fact they are acting this way would make me wonder what other shoddy practices they'll pull on you. Do you have someone in the insurance company (your adjuster?) you can complain to and have them call the contractor and threaten to pull them off of their referral list?

Review your contract with this company. One event was caused by the other.
If you hired them to repair water damage and in the process of completing those repairs, they damaged your personal property, they are liable and should cover all related costs, AND finish the repairs you originally hired them to do.
You have a small court claims case if they don't agree to complete the repairs you initially hired them to do. Contact your insurance adjuster and let him/her know what is happening. Maybe they can lean on them to make this right for you.
Good luck.

not an HDTV otherwise it would have an HDTV tuner built in... you will however need a digital converter box after feb 2009 if you use an antenna to get your TV signal...
